Recorded from England, Scotland and Ireland by Walker (1835) (as Platygaster ruficornis Latreille ). Addition to Vlug’s (1985) description: mesopleuron as in I. cotta (Walker) . This species differs from the similar I. trochanteratus Thomson in having lighter coxae, and in having mid lobe of mesoscutum pointed posteriorly (blunt in I. trochanteratus ).
