Type Locality: Not given. Fixed by Gray (1843:48) as " Sumatra " [ Indonesia].

Subspecies Viverra tangalunga subsp. lankavensis Robinson and Kloss 1920

Distribution: Cambodia, Indonesia (Sumatra, Rhio-Lingga Arch., Bangka Isl, Borneo, Karimata Isl, Sulawesi, Amboina), Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand. Introduced throughout the Moluccas.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
