Holotype. Male. ARGENTINA [incorrectly labeled as BRAZIL]: Salta , Angostura de Arias, 15 Jan. 1951, H. Herrera ( USNM) . Paratypes: 1 ♂, 1 ♀, same data as for holotype ( MLP, USNM). BOLIVIA: 1 ♂, 2 ♀♀, Dept. Santa Cruz, Florida Prov., Refugio los Volcanes , 18º06’S, 63º36’W, 1045 m, 9-13 Dec. 2008, T.J. Henry, S. Lingafelter, & D. Windsor ( USNM) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. This species is named for our good friend and colleague, Dr. Jocelia Grazia, in honor of her long career of mentoring students and for her many outstanding contributions to the study of the Pentatomoidea.

Diagnosis. Metajalysus graziae ( Figs. 4–6 View FIGURES 1–6 ) is recognized by the general brown color, the long scape and femora, the spindle-shaped distiflagellomere, the prominent apically pointed tubercles on the posterior lobe of the pronotum ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13–16 ), the relatively sparse setae on the pronotum, the long femoral setae that are two times the diameter of the segments, and the flat ventral margin of the male genital aperture.

This species is most similar to M. clavatus , n. sp. ( Figs. 1–3 View FIGURES 1–6 ) in the overall brown color, but differs in the more sparse setae on the pronotum (ca. 5 or 6 setae on each side of disc), the more prominent apically pointed pronotal tubercles, the longer scape and legs, with more slender femoral apices and less distinct setigerous tubercles, the relatively flat ventral margin of the male aperture, and the more horizonal hind arm of the parameres ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 17–31 ), whereas M. clavatus has more dense pronotal setae (ca. 12–15 or more on each side of disc), less prominent apically rounded pronotal tubercles, more distinctly swollen or clavate femora, a distinct inverted V-shaped process on the genital aperture, and a more erect hind arm of the parameres ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 17–31 ).

Description. Male (n = 1; holotype measurements in parentheses): Length 4.00 mm (4.24 mm), width [wings spread] (1.01 mm). Head: Length 0.50 mm (0.53 mm), width across eyes 0.43 mm (0.43 mm), interocular width 0.26 mm (0.29 mm). Labium: Length 1.31 mm (1.33 mm). Antenna: Scape length 2.43 mm (2.40 mm); pedicel, 0.77 mm (0.80 mm); basiflagellomere, 1.86 mm (1.76 mm); distiflagellomere, 0.58 mm (0.51 mm). Pronotum: Median length 1.54 mm (1.60 mm), posterior width 0.75 mm (0.78 mm). Femoral lengths: Pro- 1.63 mm (1.63 mm), meso- 1.86 mm (1.92 mm), meta- 2.62 mm (2.72 mm). Tibial lengths: Pro- 1.92 mm (1.95 mm), meso- 2.37 mm (2.43 mm), meta- 3.62 mm (3.58 mm).

General color yellowish brown. Head: Yellowish brown to darker brown, gular area dark brown to black in some specimens; lateral and median carinae on vertex and frons yellow; lateral carina with two erect pale setae, median carina with one to two rows of erect pale setae; eyes and ocelli reddish brown. Labium: Yellowish brown, extending to base of metasternum. Antenna: Yellowish brown, base and apex of scape dark brown, distiflagellomere black with apex dirty whitish brown; scape with a few long erect setae two to three times diameter of segment, pedicel and basiflagellomere with scattered erect setae two or more times diameter of segments. Pronotum ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13–16 ): Brown to yellowish brown, narrow posterior margin, median carina, and partial lateral carina yellow; each side of disc with ca. 5 or 6 long erect, simple setae; apices of lateral posterior tubercles pointed, middle tubercle highest, apex slightly more rounded, point of each posterior tubercle with three or four long, erect, simple setae. Scutellum: Yellowish brown, raised tubercle yellow. Hemelytron: Translucent; veins pale to brown, darker brown at apex of corium, with a dark brown, quadrate spot on either side of middle; membrane with brown blotches between veins. Ventral surface: Thorax brown to yellowish brown, sternal areas becoming black in some specimens; abdomen brown, with short, scattered setae. Legs: Coxae brown, paler apically; femora brown to dark brown, with apices paler on darkest specimens, setae two or more times diameter of segments; tibiae dark brown to yellowish brown with apices dark brown, setae two or more times diameter of segments; tarsi and claws brown.

Male genitalia: Genital capsule ( Figs. 21, 22 View FIGURES 17–31 ) with ventral margin of aperture relatively flat. Parameres ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 17–31 ) with smaller hind arm short, stout, and nearly horizontal.
