Type species. Isodictya robusta Bowerbank, 1866

Definition. Phloeodictyidae with a compact external ectosomal crust composed of tangential megascleres, often

surrounding a hollow body and numerous ubiquitous fistulae, megascleres oxeas or strongyles and microscleres, if present, sigmata or toxas ( De Weerdt 1985).
