Remarks: Although the type locality of F. stellatus is in the subtidal zone of the Pacific Ocean ( French Polynesia), it was subsequently reported only from the Mediterranean basin. In the Mediterranean region it is known from several localities (mostly around Tremiti and Chafarinas Islands) in different types of sand. Given the disjunct distribution, records from the Mediterranean should be confirmed.
