40. Pseuderesia eleaza eleaza ( Hewitson, 1873) View in CoL

WL: 17mm. This is a forest species. The males are blackish with an orange-red discal spot on the forewing recto, which extends to the tornal area. The hindwings are black. The nominate subspecies ranges from Guinea- Bissau to Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and DRC . From Sierra Leone and Liberia onwards, the orange-red spot may be smaller—f. picta —or even absent—f. nigra.
