Desvaux (1811: 305) . Pityrogramma argentea var. aurea (Willd.) Mettenius ex Kuhn (1868: 59) . Pityrogramma aurea (Willd.) Christensen (1932: 46) . Type:— RÉUNION. We decided not to treat the only other species of Pityrogramma endemic to Madagascar ( Tryon 1962) because material for DNA research was not available. Comparison of morphological characters, however, indicates close relationships of this taxon to Cerosora argentea . In our opinion, this hypothesis requires further testing.
