5. Limanda limanda (Linnaeus, 1758)

In the text of ( Artüz & Fricke 2019 P: 547) the subject is explained with the following paragraph, which is repeated below to avoid any misunderstanding;

“ Deveciyan (1915) noticed that the distribution area of Limanda limanda (as Pleuronectes limanda ) included the Black Sea and Sea of Marmara. Since this record cannot be currently confirmed, it is possible that it was based on misidentified Platichthys flesus , although he also reported P. flesus (as Pleuronectes flessus) in the same publication as a separate species. Therefore, we include L. limanda in the checklist with some reservation.”
