Type material. Holotype ♂, SOUTH AFRICA: KwaZulu-Natal, Estcourt, Champagne Castle, Hlathikulu forest, 29º02’S, 29º23’E, 20.I.2011, C. Haddad leg. ( NMBA 15885).

Etymology. The name is a noun in apposition from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Cheiramiona hlathikulu sp. nov. is differentiated by the unique shape of the EM apex that narrows in two stages and RTA that ends in a thinning curve ( Figs 14–15 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ).

Description. Male (n = 1): TL = 5.6; CL = 2.6; CW = 1.8; OAL = 0.35; OAW = 1.1; CLL = 0.05. Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; PMT:RMT = 5:4 ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ). Measurements: AME–AME 0.15; AME–ALE 0.15; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.20; PME–PLE 0.20; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.45; MOQPW 0.50; CI (CL/ CW) 1.44; LL:CL 4.92; STL 1.3; STW 1.1. Leg measurements: I—3.3+1.0+3.5+3.5+1.5 = 12.8; II— 2.1+0.9+2.1+2.1+0.7 = 7.9; III—1.7+0.7+1.3+1.6+0.6 = 5.9; IV—2.6+0.9+2.3+2.5+0.7 = 9.0; Palp— 1.0+0.5+0.4+1.2 = 3.1. Leg spines: I—0-0-1p, 0- 2 v-0, 2v- 2v-1v; II—0-0-1p, 0- 2 v-0, 2v- 2v-1v; III—0-0-1p1r, 0- 1p1r-0, 2v-2 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r; IV—0-0-1r, 0- 2 v-1r, 2v-2 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with a dark heart mark, paired dark longitudinal stripes along midline posterior to heart mark. Palp ( Figs 14–15 View FIGURES 13 – 24. 13 – 15 ): cymbium elongate, longer than patella plus tibia length; tibia with broad RTA, with curved, narrower, pointed apex; TA slightly sclerotized, curved towards EM at tip; EM short, thick, with pointed apex directed retrolaterally, apex slightly curved around CON; CON distinct but not sclerotized. Female: unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 97 – 100 ).

Habitat. Collected at the base of grass tussocks in a forest-grassland ecotone.
