DISTRIBUTION. — Known only from Paraguay and known only from its type-material. O’Donell (1950a) mentioned that there was a paratypus in SI and LIL herbaria, but he failed to cite the material and it has not been located so far. Among the species studied here, this is the only one that has not been recorded from Brazil.

REMARKS

Distinguished by its herbaceous habit with scandent stems, narrowly elliptical leaves with simple trichomes that are thickened at base mixed with forked trichomes, and monochasial inflorescences, J. anomala is difficult to distinguish from J. guaranitica , differing only in the type of indumentum and bracteole size. The fact that J. anomala is known through a single collection makes it difficult to ascertain whether it represents a variant of J. guaranitica with longer bracteoles and without stellate trichomes on its stems.
