Field characteristics: Found on species of Artemisia (Asteraceae) View in CoL . Adult female body oval, yellowish, covered by an ovisac of felted white wax.

Microscopic diagnosis: Slide-mounted adult female oval to broadly oval. Anal lobes well developed. Antennae each with 7 segments. Legs well developed; claw with a denticle; tarsal digitules each pointed at tip and shorter than claw. Cerarii numbering 15 pairs, each with 2‒5 enlarged conical setae and 2 or 3 trilocular pores, each present on flat and weakly sclerotised areas. Circulus and ostioles absent.

Dorsum with setae similar to cerarian setae, most grouped into dorsal cerarii. Cellular plates of irregular form present on head and thorax. A few multilocular disc pores present on abdominal segments VII and VIII. Oral collar tubular ducts present throughout.

Venter with normal flagellate setae. Multilocular disc pores each with 10 loculi, present in transverse rows on posterior edges of segments IV‒VII and posterior to vulva. Quinquelocular pores present on midline and submedian areas of body. Tetralocular pores present around spiracles. Trilocular pores scattered over whole dorsum. Oral collar tubular ducts of 2 sizes, present throughout.

Distribution: Artemicoccus bispinus has been recorded from five countries in the Palaearctic Region including Iran, Khorasan -e Shomali province ( García Morales et al. 2016 and Moghaddam 2015).

Host-plants: This species has only been found on species of Artemisia sp. (Asteraceae) ( García Morales et al. 2016 and Moghaddam 2015).

Economic importance: None in Iran.

Natural enemies: Not recorded in Iran.
