Genus Azaritrombium Saboori, Bagheri & Haddad , gen. n.
Typespecies: Azaritrombium raphanicum Saboori, Bagheri & Haddad , sp. n. (monobasic)
Diagnosis of larva: Idiosoma with two median dorsal scuta; posterior pair of scutal setae (PL) each situated lateral and posterior to sensillary setae; AM distinctly barbed; leg segmental formula fSp = 666; proximal setae on coxa I normal barbed setae; coxa II with two normal barbed setae, seta 2a situated in anteromedian border; genu II and genu III each with one solenidion; Ta III with two normal claws and a clawlike empodium; gnathosoma acuminate posteriorly; palpal femur and genu without setae; palpal tibial claw distinctly bifurcate; one of palpal tarsus setae long and smooth; subcapitular setae long and barbed completely.
Etymology: The generic name is derived from “Azarbaijan” (province of origin) and “trombium” (Greek, = the root name of Trombidiidae ). Neutral in gender.
Remarks: We agree with Welbourn’s definition of Trombidiidae which comprises the subfamilies Podothrombiinae, Trombidiinae and Allothrombiinae ( Welbourn, 1991). Azaritrombium is considered to belong to the Trombidiinae . The setation on palp tarsus, the structure of setae of the gnathosoma venter, the shape of poterior end of gnathsoma, the setation on legs and idiosomal setation (h1 much longer than others) all indicate that it is a member of Trombidiinae . Azaritrombium is similar to Trombidium in morphology. It differs from Trombidium by the reduction of the dorsal seta on palpfemur, posterior claw of Ta III normal and development of the setules on 1a setae of coxa I.
