Caligus elevatus Kirtisinghe , in Ingle, Bartlett, Beckett, Rooke & Goldsmith, 1968

In the Zoological Record for Crustacea for 1965 ( Ingle et al., 1968) the name “ C. elevatus sp. nov. ” is listed on page 71 as having been created on page 63 of Kirtisinghe’s paper on copepod parasites of fishes of Sri Lanka ( Kirtisinghe, 1964). Inspection of Kirtisinghe (1964) revealed that the new species described on page 63 was Caligus clavatus . It seems certain that Caligus elevatus is merely an incorrect subsequent spelling of C. clavatus Kirtisinghe, 1964 .
