Genus Amenia Robineau-Desvoidy View in CoL View at ENA

Formosiomima Enderlein, 1936: 444 View in CoL . Type species: Formosiomima imitatrix Enderlein, 1936: 444 View in CoL , (= Amenia nigromaculata Malloch, 1929 View in CoL ), by original designation.

Despite the considerable differences in ornamentation between Malloch's nigromaculata View in CoL and other species of Amenia View in CoL , the structural differences are not great. I am therefore reluctant to follow Crosskey in accepting the generic status proposed by Enderlein (see below) and therefore place his Formosiomima View in CoL as a junior synonym.

Despite much further collecting, Amenia has been found (as reported by Crosskey, 1965) only in Australia, especially Queensland and New South Wales; it is present in the Torres Strait islands, but absent from Tasmania. It is sharply separated from other genera by the characters given in the key. See also the note on setulae of the suprasquamal ridge under Paramenia (below).

In descriptions of species, I have confined myself to salient, diagnostic features, rather than repeat the detail provided by Crosskey (1965).
