Material examined. There was no specimen available to study.

Distribution. Eurasia: Israel, Turkey, Middle & S Europe, S Sweden, Finland, Baltic States, the Ukrainie, central part of European Russia, Caucasus, S Siberia including the Altai and Sayan Mts. to S Yakutia, southern part of Fare East, Korea, Iran, China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Manchuria, Inner Mongolia) ( Staudinger & Rebel 1901; Daniel 1940; Didmanidze 1978; de Freina 1983, 1996; de Freina & Witt 1990; Hua et al. 1990; Wieser et al. 2001; Yakovlev 2004d , 2006b, 2007a, 2011a).

Distribution in Iran. North Khorasan Prov.: Golestan National Park (Almeh valley) ( Wieser et al. 2001).

Host plants. In Europe: Populus tremula L., P. alba L., P. nigra L. ( Salicaceae ) (Gómez-Bustillo & Fernándes-Rubio 1976; Bertaccini et al. 1997; Buser et al. 2000).
