Kuzicus multispinus View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 , Map 1 View MAP 1 )

Description. Male. Body small and stout. Fastigium verticis conical with apex rounded, dorsal surface with a longitudinal sulcus. Eyes oval, protruding forwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpus equal in length to subapical one, apex slightly inflated.

Anterior margin of pronotal disc straight, posterior margin rounded; paranota longer than high, humeral sinus weak. Thoracic auditory spiracle exposed, kidney-shaped. Tegmen extending behind the hind knee, apex rounded; hindwing distinctly longer than tegmen.

All femora unarmed on ventral surfaces. Procoxa with 1 spine, protibial tympana open on both sides, oval; protibia with 5 internal and 6 external long spines on ventral surface. Mesotibia with 5 internal and 5 or 6 external comparatively long spines on ventral surface. Posttibia with 25–27 spines on both sides of dorsal surface, apex with 1 pair of dorsal spurs and 2 pairs of ventral spurs. Ninth abdominal tergite narrowly elongate, lateral lobe bent downwards and slightly expanded, with apex rounded. Tenth abdominal tergite strikingly extended and widened; basal third comparatively broad, lateral surface protruding downwards; after basal third, split in the midline to form a pair of lateral lobes, which expand outwards and folded ventrad separately on both sides; lateral surface of lateral lobe with an incision at the middle; apical half of lateral lobe lamellar, curved downwards, dorsal surface intumescent, inner margin at apical half of lateral lobe with a longitudinal and depressed lamella, apex rounded. Cercus with basal half stout, inner surface longitudinally concave; outer surface of basal area with a tubercular process, and inner surface with a lamellar lobe, apex of the lobe with numerous spines; apical area of cercus bent inwards and upwards, narrowing, apex acute. Genitalia with basal area broad, middle area forming a long and depressed beamlike structure with widened apex; dorsal surface of the structure broadening outwards, lamellar and lateral margins nearly parallel; dorsal surface of apical area with a pair of comparatively long spines, which folded outwards and backwards at apex; ventral surface of apical area with a pair of depressed lamellar processes, directed forwards; posterior margin straight, both lateral corners protruding slightly backwards, external edges serrate. Subgenital plate fused with genitalia at basal area, nearly hexagonal, with a gracile longitudinal sulcus in the midline, posterior margin straight. Styli slender on lateral sides of apex of subgenital plate.

Coloration. Body yellowish green. Eyes yellowish brown. Internal margin of antennal socket with lamellate portion black brown. Internal margin of scape yellowish brown; pedicel with anterior and posterior margins black; antennal flagellum with sparse tawny markings. Disc of pronotum with a thin black stripe on anterior and posterior margins separately. Tegmina with some small light brown spots. Apices of cerci brown, apical spines of the lobes on internal margin brown. Apical spines of genitalia on dorsal surface and lamellar processes on ventral surface, lateral corners of posterior margin black brown.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements (mm). Body (the distance from apex of fastigium verticis to posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite): ♂ 14.3; pronotum (the distance from anterior margin of pronotum to posterior margin in the midline): ♂ 4.4; tegmina (the distance from bases of tegmina to the apices): ♂ 21.5; hind femora (the distance from base of hind femora to the apices of genicular lobes): ♂ 12.5.

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Longchang, Zhenfeng, Guizhou, 7 August, 2021, coll. Yun Li and Chun Chen.

Distribution. China (Guizhou).

Discussion. The new species differs from Kuzicus (Kuzicus) denticulatus ( Karny, 1926) by: lateral surface of lateral lobe of male tenth abdominal tergite with an incision at the middle; basal area of cercus with a lamellar internal lobe, apex of lobe with numerous spines; dorsal surface of genitalia with a pair of comparatively long spines and ventral surface with a pair of depressed lamellar processes at apex, external edge of lateral corner serrate.

Etymology. The new species name refers to the numerous spines at the apex of internal lobe of male cercus; Latin multi - means abound and spin - means spine.
