Comments. Accurate species identifications cannot be performed until a species level revision is completed. Important higher level work on this family can be found in Bowestead 1999, Leschen and Bowestead 2001, and Slipinski et al. 2009. Range: Pennsylvania to Florida, West to Texas and Southern California. Habitat: members of the family have been collected on leaves, flowers, in leaf litter, and under bark. Collection Method: sifting/Berlese litter, sweep netting. Biology: both adults and larvae feed on fungal spores. Present Study: significantly more abundant in leaf litter and secondary forest, indifferent to season.
