The genus is mostly diversified in the Afrotropical region (at least 14 existing species; GD personal observation) with 4 species reaching the Palaearctics. Cratocentrus tomentosus (Nikol'skaya, 1960), initially described from SE Iran, is also known from India with only one specimen reported from there until now (Narendran 1989).
