Type material.

Holotype of Epeira coronata Rainbow, 1896: immature female, New England [no exact locality, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA], A.M. Lea (AM KS8683) (examined).

Remarks.

The holotype of Epeira coronata is immature and of unknown sex and does not allow an accurate species identification. Although the transfer to Carepalxis appears to correctly reflect the somatic characters of this specimen, i.e. the two-humped carapace (Fig. 10A), the genus is with at least 10 mainly undescribed species (unpublished data) too diverse in eastern Australia to allow associating mature spiders with it. Consequently, I consider Carepalxis coronata a nomen dubium.
