Limnoria mazzellae Cookson & Lorenti, 2001 View in CoL
Limnoria lignorum View in CoL . Castelló, 1986; Junoy & Castelló, 2003.
Material examined. See Table 2.
Diagnosis. See Table 1.
Distribution. Italy, and Balearic Islands (Central and Western Mediterranean).
Remarks. Ovigerous female and male from Balearic Islands with poorly sclerotised tegument, especially the male (2011–0231 MZB). Ovigerous females [A] and [B] and non–ovigerous female [C] from Venice (ZMB 25735) poorly chitinised. The species is recorded for the first time for the Balearic Islands. The specimens examined in the present study show at most some tubercles on the uropodal peduncle (female MVRCr394 from Castello Ischia and ovigerous female ZMB 25735 from Venice) or both peduncle and endopod smooth (ovigerous female 2011–0232 MZB from Balearic Islands).
