Five females and 1 male ( UMMZ BMOC 11-0201-001, # 1–6) from Catharus minimus (Lafresnaye) ( Passeriformes : Turdidae ) ( UMMZ 242485), [on skin of head], USA: Michigan, Washtenaw Co., 3 mi SE Dexter, 42.3055625°N, 83.8418197°W, summer 2008, coll. N. Green; all specimens deposited in UMMZ; 14 females and 2 males ( UMMZ BMOC 09-0424-001, # 1–16) from Sialia sialis Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Turdidae ) ( UMMZ 242029) [on skin of body], USA: Michigan, Houghton Co., Atlantic Mine, 47.0981165°N, 88.6280393°W, 26 April 2007, coll. P. Quenzi; most specimens deposited in UMMZ, except 2 females in ZISP and 2 in OSAL.
Hosts and distribution. This species is associated with number of passeriform birds from several continents. Passeriformes (Alaudidae) : Eremopterix leucotis (Stanley) [type host] from South Africa ( Fain 1972, 1994), Calandrella cinerea (Gmelin) from Botswana ( Bochkov & Klompen 2014b), Calandrella rufescens (Vieillot) and Alauda arvensis Linnaeus from Kazakhstan ( Bochkov & Klompen 2014b).
Passeriformes (Thraupidae) : Diuca diuca (Molina) from South America (unknown locality) ( Fain 1972).
Passeriformes (Fringillidae) : Rhodospiza obsoleta ( Lichtenstein) from Kirgizia (Fain et al. 1999), Spinus tristis (Linnaeus) from USA (Wyoming) and Leucosticte arctoa (Pallas) from Canada (British Columbia) ( Bochkov & Klompen 2014b).
Passeriformes (Turdidae) : Turdus migratorius Linnaeus from USA (various localities) and Sialia sialis from USA (Mississippi) ( Bochkov & Klompen 2014b; present paper); Catharus minimus [new host] from USA (Michigan) (present paper).
