Harpyrhynchoides pectinifer (Lawrence, 1959)
( Figs. 46 View FIGURE 46 , 47 View FIGURE 47 )
Harpyrhynchus pectinifer Lawrence, 1959b: 419 , figs. 2, 3 (type temporarily in OSAL, examined). Harpirhynchus (Harpyrhynchoides) pectinifer, Fain 1994: 137 , figs. 119–126.
Harpyrhynchoides pectinifer, Bochkov & OConnor 2013: 505.
Redescription. FEMALE (1 specimen from Colaptes auratus , Fig. 46 View FIGURE 46 ). Body, including gnathosoma, 315 long and 250 wide. Gnathosoma 85 long and 100 wide. Palp 45 long and 32 wide, with fine longitudinal striations. Palpalae thickened, different in shape ( Fig. 46 View FIGURE 46 C): dG 12 long, with 5–6 pectinations, about twice thicker than dF 22 long and l”G 9 long. Setae vF 50 long, smooth. Subcapitulum ventrally without membranous lateral projections. Peritrematal branch 42 long. Idiosoma 235 long. Smooth cuticle between peritrematal branches and transverse striations densely punctated. All dorsal setae slightly serrate. Dorsal shield unornamented, 150 long and 185 wide, with almost straight anterior margin and widely concave posterior margin. Idiosoma ventrally with small tubercles in lateral parts and immediately anterior to setal bases 3a, almost completely striated excluding area bearing pocket-like vulvar structure. Setae 1a situated slightly anterior to level of setal bases 1c. Setae 3a situated at level of coxal fields III. Distance between setal bases 3a about 2.5 times longer than between setal bases 1a. Ventral setae h1 present. Distance h2–h2 about 2.5 times longer than h1–h1. Coxal fields I and II striated in posterior part. Vulvar pocket-like structure without long lateral longitudinal folds. Vulvar apodemes moderately discernible. Lengths of setae: vi, ve, si, se, and c2 —all 175–90, h1 and h2 about 16. Solenidia ω 1 I and ω 1 II about 9 long, straight, with pointed apex and slightly thickened in median part. Empodium of tarsi I and II not elongated, only slightly longer or subequal to respective tarsus. Genua I and II with 3 setae (d, l’, v’), femora I and II with 2 setae (d and v), trochanters I and II with 1 seta (v). Apical segment of leg III with 4 setae; preapical segment with 1 seta. Leg IV with 1 segment bearing 4 setae.
MALE (1 specimen from Colaptes auratus , Figs. 47 View FIGURE 47 ). Body, including gnathosoma, 250 long and 200 wide. Gnathosomal length and width subequal, about 65. Palp 37 long and 30 wide, without lateral notches. Palpalae strongly different in shape ( Fig. 47 View FIGURE 47 C): dG 14 long, 2 times thicker than dF 12 long and l”G 9 long. Setae vF 35 long, smooth. Subcapitulum ventrally as in female. Idiosoma 185 long. Smooth cuticle between peritrematal branches and transverse striations densely punctated. Length and width of dorsal shield subequal, about 150; dorsal shield with almost straight anterior margin and slightly attenuated posterior part. Aedeagus 60 long, almost straight, situated anterior to genital opening. Genital opening situated in posterior third of dorsal shield. Genital arch 22 long. Genital setae about 6 long; setae g2 situated almost at level of g1. Distances between g1–g1 30, g2– g2 22, and g3–g3 16. Setae vi; ve, si, se, and c2 —all slightly serrate, about 65 long. Idiosoma ventrally with small tubercles in lateral parts, fully striated. Coxal fields I and II covered by transverse striations. Leg I and II setation as in female. Solenidion ω 1 I 8 long, solenidion ω 1 II 6 long, with pointed apex, straight, slightly thickened. Apical segment of leg III with 5 setae; preapical segment with 1 seta. Leg IV with 1 segment bearing 4 setae.
