Remarks. – H. Milne Edwards (1852) included two new species in his new genus Metaplax , M. distincta H. Milne Edwards, 1852 , and M. indica H. Milne Edwards, 1852 , without specifically indicating which was to be regarded as the type of the genus. We here choose M. distincta as the genotype because this was the only species Milne Edwards chose to illustrate.
