Arius buchanani   ZBK Day, 1877: 463, pl. 105 (fig. 6). Type locality: Hooghly channel, Calcutta, India ; Irrawaddy, Myanmar. Syntypes: ZSI 456, 1302 (1 lost) .

Distribution: South and southeast Asia.

Countries: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and China.

Habitat: Predominantly brackish waters.

Maximum size: 340 mm TL.
