Ecological notes: very common in broad-leaved woodland; also found in mixed woodland; conifer plantations; wooded lake margin; reed beds; grounds of horticultural research station; calcareous grassland; parkland, wet meadow; open montane habitats. Reared from the fungus Stereum sanguinolentum and nests of robin and dunnock. iv–xi.
