Duration: 48 – 72 h.

Dimensions: CL = 0.34 ± 0.02 mm; TL = 1.83 ± 0.04 mm (n = 10).

Carapace ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (a – c)): carapace smooth; rostrum slender and long, slightly overreaching the antennule exopod, ventral margin with four small terminal denticles as illustrated; pterygostomian spine present; eyes sessile.

Antennule ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (a,b,d)): peduncle-unsegmented; endopod as a long plumose seta; exopod with four terminal aesthetascs and one terminal plumose seta.

Antenna ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (a,b,e)): peduncle-unsegmented and smooth; endopod with one long plumose seta and one strong outer terminal spine; exopod (antennal scale) 5-segmented, with ten plumose setae, nine on inner side (4, 1, 1, 1, 2), one shorter on the outer side of fourth segment, plus two small simple setae on the outer side of first and fifth segments.

Mandibles: incisor and molar process developed. Palp absent.

Maxillule ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (f)): coxal endite with five simple setae; basial endite with five (two stout cuspidate and three simple) setae; endopod with two terminal (one simple and one sparsely plumodenticulate) setae; exopodal seta absent.

Maxilla ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (g)): coxal endite not bilobed, with two sparsely plumose setae and one small protuberance; basial endite bilobed, with one and two simple seta on proximal and distal lobe, respectively; endopod unsegmented, with one terminal simple seta; exopod (scaphognathite) with five marginal plumose setae; michrotrichia on margins of exopod, endopod, basial and coxal endites as illustrated.

First maxilliped ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (h)): coxa without setae; basis with nine simple setae arranged 1 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1; endopod 2-segmented with one marginal simple, five (two marginal simple + three terminal sparsely plumodenticulate) setae, respectively; exopod unsegmented with four long terminal plumose natatory setae.

Pereiopods ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (k,l)): first and second as biramous bud.

Pleon ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (a,b)): with five pleonites, pleonite three with one pair of posterodorsal simple setae, pleonite five with two posterolateral spines, pleonite six fused with the telson. Pleopods and uropods absent. Anal spine absent.

Telson ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (a,m)): broad at posterior margin, with 7 + 7 plumose setae (the outer two setae are plumose only in the inner margin), outermost pair subterminal, inner pair shorter; one row of minute spinules on distal margin between and around bases of the 6 + 6 inner setae.

Zoea II ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a – n))

Duration: more than 48 h.

Dimensions: CL: 0.42 ± 0.01 mm; TL: 1.96 ± 0.09 mm (n = 10).

Carapace ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a – c)): rostrum reaching the extremity of the antennule peduncles, tip of ventral margin with six or seven small terminal denticles; presence of one pair of pterygostomian spines, one pair of supraorbital spines and one dorsal spine with three small terminal denticles as illustrated; eyes compound and stalked.

Antennule ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a,b,d)): peduncle 2-segmented, proximal segment with four terminal (three simple and one plumose) setae, distal segment with two terminal plumose setae; endopod unchanged; exopod with four terminal aesthetascs.

Antenna ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a,b,e)): endopod with one small simple, one long plumose seta and one strong outer terminal spine; exopod (antennal scale) 4-segmented with ten plumose setae, nine on inner side (4, 1, 1, 3) and one shorter on the outer side of fourth segment, plus two small simple setae on the outer side of first and fourth segments.
