Based on the subcontiguous procoxae and and the presence of a coarse median pair of asperities on the produced anterior margin of the pronotum, this species is here transferred to Cnestus . It has a similar distribution to C.pseudosolidus in eastern Australia (Wood and Bright 1992). Records from New Zealand appear to refer to C.pseudosolidus ( Brockerhoff et al. 2003) .
