Notes

Thallus can vary in shape and resemble lettuce leaves. The thallus is composed of two layers of cells attached to the substratum by a holdfast made of rhizoidal proliferations. The overall shape of the algae is very variable depending on the environmental conditions. Colour varies from light to dark green (Fig. 9 View Figure 9 ).
