Description of Shinella zoogloeoides BS View in CoL 17
Cells are Gram-staining-negative, rod-shaped. Colonies are circular, raised, and entire white colored after 2 days of incubation on R2A agar at 25°C. Positive for acid production from D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, N -acetyl-glucosamine, and D-maltose, esculin hydrolysis, and urease activity in API 20NE. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, activities of arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase, and β -galactosidase, and utilization of potassium gluconate, malic acid, capric acid, trisodium citrate, adipic acid, and phenylacetic acid. Strain BS17 (= NIBRBA 0000114214) was isolated from a compost sample, Ye- san, Korea.
