PARATYPES, same data as holotype, 1 M macr, 1 F macr ( ICN); 2 M macr, 2 F macr; 1 M brach, 1 F brach (PSO-CZ); 2 M brach (CP).

Brachypterous form. Dimensions.- Length M 6.93, F 8.26; maximum width M 2.04, F 2.56; ocular index M 0.53, F 0.54.

Macropterous form. Dimensions.- Length M 8.13, F 9.06; maximum width M 2.20, F 2.56; ocular index M 0.55, F 0.55.

Color. Light form. Eyes reddish-brown. General body color yellowish, last abdominal segments brown to black. Hemelytra, limbs, and ventral abdominal keel yellow; venter abdominal with a longitudinal brown stripe on each side of keel. Hemelytra of female with costal area brown and membrane yellow.

Dark form. Eyes reddish-brown, head yellow. General body color brown. Hemelytra brown, with yellow costal margin and dark-brown membrane.

Structural characteristics. Anterior outline of head rounded as viewed from above. Vertex, anterior width shorter than median length. Eyes holoptic positioned at approximately the midway point of the head; ocular commissure equal to one-half of width of eye. Pronotum, posterior margin concave in midline and lateral margins moderately divergent. Scutellum, median length longer than median length of pronotum; anterior width shorter than median length.

Hemelytra of female ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ) with longitudinal hyaline stripe wide for half of distance, narrowing distally, and second narrow and irregular hyaline stripe, membrane distinct and lacking stripes. Hemelytra of male similar to female, differing in the second stripe which is more regular. Hemelytral process short, less than onethird (approximately 2.67 times) as long as membrane.

Mesotrochanter and middle femur lacking nodules, but have abundant dark hairs, mesotrochanter with a tuft of dark hairs, near the coxae; metatrochanter without sharp concavity at distal end. Right clasper of male genital capsule smaller than left, and shaped as shown in figure 3.

Ecological notes: The type series was collected from shallow streams, a clay-muddy substrate, limited by rock that gives shade to the site.

Etymology: “ awa ” is in honor to the indigenous society Awá of Colombia, in whose territory the type is found.

Comparative notes: The female hemelytra of M. hungerfordi and M. awa are similar, but hemelytra of the latter lacks teeth in costal margin; the other characteristics are very different. Male genital claspers are characteristics ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ).
