Brachypterous male. Dimensions.- Length 7.06, maximum width 2.20, ocular index 0.62. Macropterous female. Dimensions.- Length 7.86, maximum width M 2.48, ocular index 0.62.

Color. Eyes reddish-brown. General body color white to yellow. Limbs usually yellowish with brown to black markings at joints; basal portion of all limbs dark brown. Hair on venter dark brown to black. Labrum dark brown. Rostrum yellowish with a median longitudinal brown to black stripe; last segment entirely black.

Apex of antennal segment II, middle coxae, and pro-pleural margin, covered with tuft-like setae; pleural region covered with slender, long, semirecumbent, light brown setae.

Structural characteristics. Anterior outline of head rounded as viewed from above. Vertex, anterior width shorter than median length. Eyes holoptic positioned at approximately the midway point of the head; ocular commissure equal to half the width of an eye. Pronotum, posterior margin straight in midline, and lateral margins moderately divergent. Scutellum, median length, half of median length of the pronotum, and half of its width.

Hemelytra hyaline: male with single, narrow, median, longitudinal, white opaque stripe, membrane distinct and lacking stripes; female with two longitudinal white opaque stripes ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ), posterior stripe narrow for half of length and wide posteriorly. Hemelytral process one-third (approximately 2.60 times) as long as membrane.

Mesotrochanter and middle femur lacking nodules, but with abundant dark hair; mesocoxae entirely covered with tuft-like setae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ); all trochanters with a tuft of dark hair, near the coxae.

Genital capsule and left paramere ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ). Female with a long spine characteristic on lateral margin of middle femur, close to point of joint with trochanter ( Fig 6 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ).

Etymology: Lofo. A Greek noun meaning “panache,” which refers to the shape of the setae that cover several portions of the body.

Comparative notes: Martarega lofoides is distinguished by the presence of tuft-like setae in the apex of antennal segment II, middle coxae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ), and pro-pleural margin; the characteristic pattern of the stripes of the female hemelytra ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ), and the shape of the male genital clasper ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ). The female has a long spine on the lateral margin of the middle femur ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 6 ).
