Hydrangea kwangsiensis Hu (1931:152) View in CoL .

Type :— CHINA. Guangxi [Kwangsi]: Luocheng County [Luchen], Du Feng Shan [Chu Feng Shan], 15 km SW Sanfang [Shan Fang], ca. 850 m, 8 June 1928, R. C. Ching 5836 ( PE 00029330 , lectotype designated by McClintock 1957; isolectotypes A00042807 , CQNM0005387 View Materials , IBSC0004344 View Materials , NAS00071069 View Materials , NAS00071070 View Materials , NY00186286 , PE00029330 ).

Note: —In the protologue, Hu (1931) cited the type as “ R. C. Ching, Kwangsi Exped. Metrop. Mus. Of Nat. His. Acad. Sin. no. 5386 ”, of which “Exped. Metrop. Mus. Of Nat. His. Acad. Sin.” is the abbreviation of name of the project by which Ching’s field work was supported. As pointed out by Chun (1954), the field number 5836 was mistyped as 5386 in the protologue. Hu (1931) did not specify the herbarium where the type specimen is deposited, eight traced specimens above are syntypes under Art.9.6 ( Turland et al. 2018). McClintock (1957) cited a photograph of PE00029330 deposited at A and NY, and indicated this specimen to be holotype. This was achieved to designate a lectotype for the name and the term “ holotype ” is correctable to be “ lectotype ” according to Art. 9.10 ( Turland et al. 2018).
