Neoscapteriscus View in CoL n. gen.

Diagnosis. Small to medium-sized (less than 40 mm.), body color mostly dark brown (fig. 15), some species

presenting a lighter color. Trochanter blade elongated across apical fifth to apical half of process, dactyls of fore

tibia slightly elongated and with convex apex (fig. 17). Cerci of the male shorter than the pronotum. Phallic

process of ectophallus pedunculate and sclerotized, almost as long as the apical process (figs. 32–33). Etymology. From Latin— neo (: new), in apposition to Scapteriscus . Type species. Neoscapteriscus didactylus ( Latreille, 1804) .

Comments. In this new genus, the species from Scapteriscus s. l., are placed, which are distinct from

Scapteriscus s. s. both in external and genital morphology.
