Basionym:— Crossotolejeunea cristuliflora Steph., Sp. Hepat. 5: 231. 1913 ( Stephani, 1913). Type:— Brazil. São Paulo, Apiahy, Puiggari s.n. (holotype G 010095!).

São Paulo: Serra do Mar bei Paranapiacaba an der Eisenbahnlinie zwischen São Paulo und Santos , Regenwald , epiphyll auf Farnen , elev. 1000 m, 20 September 1986, Schäfer-Verwimp & Verwimp 7616 (hb. Schäfer-Verwimp) ; Serra do Mar zwischen Mogi das Cruzes und Bertioga, Regenwald (Mata Atlântica primária) am Rio Itapanhaú , epiphyll, 700 m alt., 22 November1989, Schäfer-Verwimp & Verwimp 12027 (hb. Schäfer-Verwimp) .

Notes:— Lejeunea cristuliflora is characterized by its 5-keeled perianth, keels usually narrowly 2-winged, wings 1 − 3 cells wide, armed with teeth, cilia and lacinia, and larger leaf lobules (sometimes strongly reduced) 1/3 − 1/2 as long as leaf lobes. It is usually epiphyllous, but sometimes also found on tree trunks in the tropical rainforest. This species has been found only in the states of Minas Gerais, Paraná and São Paulo in Southeastern Brazil ( Reiner-Drehwald & Goda 2000).
