Ceramphis Casey, 1897: 538 View in CoL . Type species: Scydmaenus deformatus Horn, 1885 View in CoL (monotypy).

Emended diagnosis. Frontoclypeal groove lacking; labrum with broadly emarginate anterior margin, lacking teeth or denticles; mandibles asymmetrical, left with one, right with two mesal pre-apical teeth; head ventrally with two dense groups of postgenal setae just laterad posterior tentorial pits; scape much longer than pedicel, with dorsal and ventral notch; antennomere 5 in both sexes modified, with subtriangular lateral expansion; antennal club indistinctly trimerous; pronotum trapezoidal, elongate, broadest at base and strongly narrowing anterad, lacking antebasal pits; notosternal sutures marked as short but distinct notches at anteroventral margin of prothorax; hypomeral ridges lacking; elytra lacking basal foveae; mesocoxal rests posteriorly with postmesocoxal carinae; mesoventral inter- coxal process carinate; metanepisterna entirely fused with metaventrite and exposed in ventral view, so that meta- coxae are broadly separated from elytral margins; metaventral intercoxal process nearly as broad as each metacoxa; abdominal sternite 3 (first visible) several times as long as 4; aedeagus as in Scydmaenus , with massive parameres fused with median lobe, with ostium situated on dorsal surface, and with retractor of endophallus attached sub-basally on median lobe; spermatheca globular.
