Holotype: — VENEZUELA. Aragua: Prope coloniam Tovar, 1854, A.Fendler 156 (B 20 0056658!; isotype K000633372 [digital image!]).

New record for Rwanda:— Northern Province: Volcano NP, Ibuhanga Forest , terrestrial in submontane forest on lava rocks, 1625 m, S1°34`12.56`` E29°38`08.17``, 30 March 2009, E.Fischer s.n. ( KOBL) GoogleMaps .

Habitat: —Terrestrial in submontane forest on lava rocks, elev. 1625 m.

Distribution in Rwanda:—Northern Province: Ibuhanga Forest.

General distribution: —Africa: Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Angola to Rep. South Africa (? see Note), Madagascar. Also in Réunion, in Peru, Venezuela.

Note: — Viane (2021: 138) considers the southern African specimens to represent a different taxon, perhaps Asplenium lademannianum Rosenstock (1908: 177) .
