Scymnus scapuliferus Mulsant, 1850: 968.

Diagnosis.

Body is elongated and convex; head is pale in males and black with anterior yellow border in females. Pronotum is black except for a narrow testaceous border on the anterior margin. Elytra are black with yellowish, reddish or pale, nearly quadrangular shoulder spot along the proximal two-thirds. Specimens of this species were found mostly in natural ecosystems, although it has been reported as a predator of the cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch, 1854, in Nigeria ( Waterhouse 1998).

Local distribution.

It was collected from Asir, Baha, and Jizan.

World distribution.

This species has been reported from South, Central, and West Africa; Yemen ( Raimundo and van Harten 2000); new country record for Saudi Arabia.
