Ambrysus signoreti Stål View in CoL species complex

Usinger (1946) was the first person to mention the “ signoreti ” complex when describing 16 new species in Ambrysus . In a later work, La Rivers (1957) listed some of the unifying features of species in the A. signoreti complex: 1) broad body shape, 2) wide embolia, 3) prominent maculation, and 4) posterolateral corners of abdominal segments III–V produced (spinose). Of these, only the maculation on the hemelytra could be used, to a certain extent, as a diagnostic feature of the group. Similar to other species complexes in the genus, important unifying features are related to male phallosoma morphology. Most recently, Reynoso-Velasco and Sites (2019a) described four new species in this group.
