Type Locality: Listed as " Cape of Good Hope" by Meester et al. (1986), restricted by Thomas and Schwann (1905:133) to "Deelfontein" [ South Africa].

Vernacular Names: Meerkat.

Distribution: Angola, S Botswana, Namibia, South Africa.
