status

Eunice indica ( Kinberg, 1865)

Eunice indica Kinberg, 1865: 562   .— Monro 1939: 119.— Fauchald 1992: 176.

Eunice cf. indica Stephenson et al. 1974: 112   .

Remarks. Eunice indica   was originally described from Bagka Straits, Sumatra. Many specimens catalogued under this name do not have the multiple subacicular hooks that characterize the species and are sufficiently variable that they may belong to more than one species. Eunice indica   is not represented in the collections of the Australian Museum. We therefore suggest that this species does not occur in Australian waters.
