Eunice tridentata Ehlers, 1905: 288 View in CoL .— Fauchald 1986: 258; 1992: 324.

Remarks. One specimen in the collection (AM W.201408) from Murrumbulga Point (New South Wales) has been identified, incorrectly, as this species. Eunice tridentata (originally described from New Zealand) has been confused with other species with yellow bidentate subacicular hooks and branchiae starting at chaetiger 3 ( Fauchald 1986). However, E. tridentata has branchiae in less than 55% of chaetigers, while the examined specimen has branchiae distributed over most of the body. This specimen is here considered indeterminable and we suggest that this species does not occur in Australian waters.
