Type species. Parorchestia macrochela Bousfield, 1971 .

Included species. M. bousfieldi Lowry & Peart, 2010 ; M. macleayana ( Haswell, 1879) ; M. macrochela ( Bousfield, 1971) ; M. ntensis Lowry & Springthorpe, 2015 ; M. similis ( Bousfield, 1971) ; M. watsonae Lowry & Peart, 2010 .

Remarks. Microrchestia Bousfield differs from Cochinorchestia Lowry & Peart , in having oostegite setae with multifurcate tips ( Fig. 3 ), maxilliped palp article 2 without a medial lobe and uropod 1 exopodite without marginal robust setae.
