# Harpacticus furcatus Lang, 1936 #

Harpacticus chelifer Giesbrecht, 1902 ; not Müller in Harding (1941).

Description: Harding (1941). Listed in: Smith and Sayers (1971); Ito and Fukuchi (1978); Burton and Hammond (1981); Eslake et al. (1991); Block (1992: refs 1053 and 1404).

Recorded from: freshwater/saline/hypersaline pools.

Locations: Wilkes Sector (hypersaline lake), Graham Land (pool), South Georgia (marine), [Southern Ocean].

Note. This is a marine species (sic Block, 1992), but while the Graham Land record clearly represents a marine interloper the Wilkes Sector (hyper)-saline lake records are probably valid, representing long-term survivors in a non-marine environment.
