Nostoc interbryum Sant’Anna et al. (2007: 96) ( Fig. 11D–H View FIGURE 11 ).

Colonies macroscopically blackish, round to elongated, or amorphous microscopic colonies, 30.06–87.54 μm wide. Trichomes moniliform, densely to sparsely arranged in colonies, flexuous, not branched. Sheath conspicuous, firm, non-lamellated, hyaline to brown. Cells spherical or sub-quadratic, 2.19–9.86 µm wide. Apical cell rounded. Cell content homogenous or slight granulated, blue-green. Heterocyte spherical, semielliptical (2.84) 3.55–5.69 µm wide, brown, basal or intercalary position. Akinetes spherical or irregular in mature colonies, 4.11–5.69 μm diam.

Habitat: —Tree bark; associated with Hassallia sp. and Gloeocapsa sp.2 .
