Diagnosis. Giant bulky earthworms, or medium in some cases, with reddish brown to dark brown pigmentation, sometimes with streaks. Four pairs of regular setae per segment. Intraclitellar male pores. Eight pairs of calciferous glands in segments 7–14 with composite to reticulated tubular structure. Holandric and metagynic sexual apparatus with testes in segments 10 and 11 and hypo- or periesophageal testis sacs. Short seminal vesicles limited to one segment in 11 and 12. Thick septa before and after the gizzard. Meganephridia with multiple nephrostomes in the form of rosette.
