Distribution:

For records in western Thailand, see Pauwels et al. (2003). O’Shea and Lazell (2008) reported a specimen from Itbayat Island, Batanes Province, Philippines, the northeastern-most record for the taxon.

Remarks:

Hoser (2004) describes the nominate form as "largish regional race with brownish head, much the same colour as the lighter dorsal body markings, although light-headed specimens are known and several colour variants and distinct colour mutations are also known".
