TYPE LOCALITY: "In India orientali;" redefined as Pernambuco, Brazil, by Sanborn (1930) .

DISTRIBUTION: Brazilian states of Bahia, Cearâ, and Pernambuco.

STATUS: IUCN - Indeterminate; considered to be extinct.

SYNONYMS: globulus Olfers, 1818; quadricinctus Linnaeus, 1758 ; quadricinctus Olfers, 1818 (preoccupied).
