TYPE LOCALITY: "Americae meridionalis arboribus;" restricted to Surinam by Thomas (1911a) .

DISTRIBUTION: Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, Venezuela south of the Orinoco, and N Brazil (south to the southern bank of the Amazonas/Solimöes).

SYNONYMS: ai Lesson, 1827; blainvillii Gray, 1850 ; cummunis Lesson, 1841 ; flaccidus Gray, 1850 ; cuculliger Wagler, 1831 ; gularis Riippell, 1842 .
