TYPE LOCALITY: "Südamerika;" restricted to Brazil by Mertens (1925) who suggested that the type may have come from Bahia .
DISTRIBUTION: Honduras to Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, W Venezuela, E Perù and Bolivia, Paraguay, and N Argentina.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix II.
