Arius grandoculis ZBK Steindachner, 1877: 644, pl. 11. Type locality: Rio Doce, southeastern Brazil . Holotype: NMW 48272 .
Distribution: Rios Doce and Paraíba do Sul.
Countries: Brazil
Habitat: Freshwaters.
Maximum size: 350 mm TL.
Material examined: MZUSP 1004-114 (11 al) (1 c&s and 1 es), Brazil, Espirito Santo, Linhares, lagoa Japuruna .
